Though qualified primarily as an English teacher
Barbara also studied Art as a subsidiary subject. It was however,
only after she became deputy head of a large comprehensive school
in London’s East End, that she actually taught art on a regular
basis.
Barbara has supported the work of Five Women Artists
Plus since its foundation in 1981, but it was her early retirement
at Christmas 1991 which enabled her to join the group as an
assistant organiser, and later as a painter.
She paints a wide variety of subjects, but has a
particular love of landscape and architecture. Her favourite media
are watercolour and pastels but she also uses acrylics and
gouache.
